Hello. My name is Taylor Simone & I am the Founder of Curlsology ; Simone Essentials Co.

For a long time, I’ve been really into learning healthy hair, scalp care, ingredients, moisture, and what actually helps natural hair stay healthy 🌱

A lot of that came from my own experience. I was born with a hereditary raised birthmark/scar on my scalp that eventually had to be surgically removed when I was younger. The surgery permanently damaged some of the hair follicles in that area, so the hair never fully grew back the same. To this day, I still have a permanent scar and a noticeable section where the hair no longer grows.

At one point, that insecurity made me pay even closer attention to my overall hair and scalp health. Over time, I became really invested in understanding hydration, retention, moisture, oils, herbs, and ingredients that truly help curly hair thrive. Even though that one area never fully grew back, the overall health, thickness, and strength of my hair completely transformed through consistency, care, and learning what works best for my hair !

A big part of my love for natural ingredient based haircare also came from my childhood. Growing up, my mom would make homemade organic hair masks and treatments for my hair, and I truly noticed a difference in how my hair responded compared to a lot of chemical heavy store products. That stuck with me over the years and played a huge role in why I became so passionate about natural ingredients, herbs, oils, and nourishing hair from the root.

The name “Curlsology” reflects that journey perfectly.

The “ology” part comes from the suffix meaning “the study of.” Like biology is the study of life and psychology is the study of the mind. To me, Curlsology represents the study, care, and understanding of healthy curls and natural hair.

And the “curls” part came from embracing my own 4C natural hair texture in its natural state instead of feeling like natural hair had to be altered to be considered healthy or beautiful.

Green became a major part of my brand because it represents growth, healing, nature, restoration, and healthy living — everything I wanted Curlsology to stand for 🌱

That’s also why Curlsology focuses on natural ingredient-based haircare. I wanted products that feel intentional, nourishing, and rooted in ingredients that support healthy hair and scalp wellness from the root.

More than anything, I truly believe Curlsology was a God-given vision. What started from insecurity and curiosity slowly turned into passion, purpose, and wanting to help other people feel more confident in their own hair journey too.
